Breath testing in a simple, non-invasive way to evaluate the function of the gastrointestinal tract. It can be used to evaluate for problems related to carbohydrate digestion, including lactose intolerance and fructose intolerance. It can also be used to diagnose small bowel bacterial overgrowth.
Total Parenteral Nutrition
All of our physicians have had extensive training the use and supervision of IV nutrition, known as TPN. This may be needed when a medical or surgical conditions prevents a child from receiving all of the necessary nutrition via their gastrointestinal tract. We work with your home health care company to coordinate this therapy.
Esophageal pH and impedance monitoring
Esophageal pH and impedance monitoring is a minimally invasive technique to assess for gastroesophageal reflux. It can be particularly helpful when symptoms of classic heartburn are not present. This test can be used to evaluate chronic cough, vomiting, sleep disturbances, apnea and other symptoms.
Anorectal manometry is a method to evaluate function and sensation of the anus and rectum. It is often helfpul for children with chronic constipation, soiling (encopresis) or for children suspected of having Hirschsprung's disease, pelvic floor dyssynergia or tethered cord syndrome. This procedure is done in our office and takes 15-20 minutes to complete.
